President Truman's use in the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki helped to save lives. In fact he may have saved millions of lives. The Japanese had been demonstrating near-fanatical resistance, fighting to almost the last man on Pacific islands, and unleashing kamikaze attacks at Okinawa. Fire bombing had killed 100,000 in Tokyo with no discernible political effect. Only the atomic bomb would be able to force Japan's leadership into the correct decision of surrendering. As quoted by President Truman, "Dropping the bomb stopped the war and saved millions of lives." Now you have these condescending aspects of this situation, but as you look only the right answer will continue to pronounce itself to us, and that is "To drop the Bomb." President Truman, had every right to drop the Atomic Bomb onto the Japanese. As the Japanese began to make/plan the attacks of the fleas, and starvation on many of their own people, President Truman, saw this and noticed that the bombs use would be a chance to end the disturbing and utterly wrong actions of the Japanese.
